Harvard Class of 1990
April 19, 2020
First and foremost, we hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and well. We wish a full and fast recovery for those who are ill, and we mourn those we have lost. We also want to thank all of our classmates in healthcare and in other fields that are working so hard each and every day to fight this virus and sustain our world during this crisis. You inspire us.
Under normal circumstances, we would be saying how excited we are to see you in Cambridge for our 30th reunion in just over a month. Of course, our 30th Reunion is postponed, and we are awaiting information on when it will be rescheduled. Thank you all for the many ideas we’ve received on when and how it should be held. While we do not have control over that decision, we have shared all with our partners in the Harvard Alumni Association.
While the postponement of the reunion is very disappointing, it is not surprising. At the same time, we are finding inspiration and joy in the renewed energy of our Class Facebook site and in Class engagement overall. After some discussion at the past two Reunion Committee meetings, and with the explosion of virtual connections (Zoom classmate / rooming group cocktail parties are becoming the norm, we hear), we’ve decided to try some online opportunities to keep us connected. These “H90 Connects” programs will be occasions to learn, engage and blow off some steam in these challenging times.
To be clear, this will NOT try to replace the Reunion. The programming on which we were working until two months ago is only paused, and will be revisited when the Reunion is rescheduled. We’re also looking to have a live virtual event at some time during our Reunion weekend, May 21-24. We will be discussing this more at our next Reunion Committee meeting Thursday, April 30. Dial-in info will be put on our Facebook site should anyone wish to join.
“H90 Connects” Event Schedule
Here’s what’s coming up:
"Frontlines of Covid19" on Thursday, April 23 at 6pm EST.
Programming will be 60-70 minutes long, including Q&A and will feature classmates: Dr. Paul Pottinger (Infectious Diseases, U. Washington Medical Center), Dr. Jenny Walser Wilson (Emergency Medicine, Reno, NV); Dr. Heather Gunn (Emergency Medicine, Atlanta, GA) and Dr. Tory Davis Nosler (Family Medicine, Sonoma, CA).
Zoom info was sent out on April 19 in the class newsletter, and also posted on Facebook. Check your email for a message with the subject "April 2020 HR90 Class Newsletter"
Our next headliner will be Ethan Herschenfeld, who will open the first half an hour of our Reunion Committee meeting on Thursday, April 30 at 6pm EST. We’ll share the Zoom details closer to the date.
If you are interested in participating in a H90 Connects or know of a classmate who might be, please let us know.
Hope to “see” you on Thursday, and please take care!
